Welcome to the Great American Reader!

The goal of this project is to read candidates for the “Great American Novel,” starting by working through Wikipedia’s list (as of April 2026) in one year to celebrate the U.S.A’s 250th.

Each read will conclude with a newsletter posting on Fridays, with the schedule working out to posts mostly being biweekly plus a few weekly entries. I have additionally started a bookclub.com page for anyone who wishes to read along, and will host a discussion the Saturday after each newsletter posting, time and details TBA.

First read is “The Last of the Mohicans” by James Fenimore Cooper, published in 1826. The newsletter will drop on the 3rd of July, but in the meantime feel free to follow updates on my Bluesky!
